Aniimo Controls (PC Beta)

Keyboard defaults testers used: C to Twine, right-click catch mode, 1–4 to swap. Launch can still remap them.

Aniimo PC Controls and Keybinds

This is the PC closed-beta keyboard layout, not a promise that 16 September 2026 will ship the same glyphs. Pawprint has already moved prompts between tests; always open the in-game Settings list after you install. Use this page to learn the verbs so a remapped C is still Twine in your head.

Mouse look plus WASD is the whole locomotion layer. Left click attacks or throws depending on stance. Right click is catch mode. That split is the one bind pair you should not guess. Full catching notes: how to catch. Full inhabit notes: how to Twine. Full fight notes: combat.

Gamepad / controller support is first-class. The January 29 beta notes even added a dedicated photo shortcut for controller mode. If you prefer a pad, plug it in; do not assume Aniimo is mouse-only because this table is a keyboard dump. Mobile (23 September 2026) uses touch plus optional controllers — this page is the PC reference.

Movement and world

SpaceJump
Left ShiftDash / dodge
XClimb / stop climbing
FInteract
VTrack (mission tracker — also the beta “unstick the quest” button)
AltShow cursor
EnterConfirm

Shift is both traversal and the combat panic dodge. If you rebound it to sprint-toggle in another game, put it back for launch week.

Combat, Twine, catching

C is the identity of the game. 1–4 while Twined changes fly / burrow / swim / sprint kits without dropping inhabit. K is how you stop murdering Sparkling targets. J is the social ping testers used when online co-op (up to four Pathfinders) needed a real shout, not a chat message buried under an Alpha scream.

If left click “does nothing,” you are probably in catch mode with an empty pod stack, in a menu, or in Pathfinder form staring at a Twine-only node. Press C, or right-click out of catch stance, or open inventory B.

N, M, and B are the three menus you will mash on launch morning. Z is research, not a toy — Courses pay you to photograph behaviours. Homeland keys 5–8 and 0 exist because the RV is a production hub; the Homeland guide explains why you press them between expeditions instead of living in the grass forever.

Controller notes (no fake glyph map)

Pawprint has not published a single global pad diagram we can reprint without lying. What testers reported, consistently:

  • A face button is Twine; bumpers or d-pad swap 1–4.
  • Aim / throw uses the same catch-mode toggle idea as right click.
  • Photo / Snap has a dedicated pad shortcut after the January patch.
  • UI cursor on pad is slower; rebind camera invert if Idyll’s verticality makes you seasick.

If a creator overlay shows PlayStation glyphs on a Steam deck screenshot, believe the in-game Settings list, not the overlay. We will not invent DualSense names for keys that still say “Button 3” in a beta dump.

Accessibility and launch caveats

  • Rebind in Settings as soon as you can. Muscle memory from other ARPGs will fight C-as-Twine and right-click-as-catch.
  • Invert look, vibration, and subtitle options existed in tests; names can change.
  • Hold a second for system requirements if input lag is actually a 4 GB GPU dying, not a bad bind.
  • Cross-play parties mix pads, mice, and phones. Call targets in voice (F4) instead of assuming everyone can see your Tab lock.

A 30-second dry run before Idyll

After Getting Started dumps you on grass:

  1. WASD + Shift until dash feels like dodge.
  2. Right-click, left-click, Ctrl through pods — empty throw, not a Sparkling.
  3. C into Helion or Lunara, then 2 / 3 / 4 without cancelling Twine.
  4. Tab lock, Q E R, T, Shift. Die on purpose once so you know the downed prompt.
  5. K through Catch / Defense / Attack and look at the party icons so you never “accidentally” kill.
  6. N, M, B, Z. Close them. You now know where the journal lives.

That is the whole exam. Everything else is an Aniimo kit. When 16 September 2026 (consoles the same day, mobile the 23rd) ships a different default for C, come back here — we will date the change instead of pretending the beta overlay is scripture. Until then, this table is the honest PC layout testers actually pressed.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Pathfinders search for before launch.

What is the Twine key on PC?

C in the closed-beta client. Swap 1–4 while inhabited. Launch may remap it — check Settings after install.

How do I catch with mouse and keyboard?

Right-click catch mode, left-click throw, Ctrl to change Aniipod. Approach from behind. Full flow: how to catch.

Does Aniimo support a controller?

Yes. Keyboard and mouse worked in the PC beta; gamepad is fully supported, including a dedicated photo shortcut added in a January patch.

Will these binds be the same at launch?

Not guaranteed. This page is the CBT default list. Always prefer the in-game Settings screen on 16 September 2026.

Where is the map / inventory / Aniilog?

M map, B inventory, N Aniilog in the PC beta. Homeland shortcuts sit on 5–8 and 0.
