Aniimo Platforms and Cross-Play

Aniimo is built as a cross-platform free-to-play client, not a console exclusive and not a mobile-only gacha. The launch list that Gamescom 2026 and aniimo.com now repeat is short enough to memorise: Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, Android. PC and consoles unlock 16 September 2026; mobile follows 23 September 2026. Full clocks live on the release date page.

Nintendo Switch is not on that list. If a screenshot shows a Switch tile, it is fan art or a mix-up with another creature game.

URLs for every row sit on official links. Wishlist the store you will actually boot. Linking a PlayStation Network or Microsoft account to an Aniimo email is a first-login job, not something a reseller should do for you.

What is not launching

  • Nintendo Switch (and no Switch 2 listing in the Gamescom package).
  • PlayStation 4 / Xbox One. Current-gen only.
  • A paid disc. The base game is F2P. Console packs are cosmetics and pass items.
  • Steam Deck as a certified experience. Compatibility is still Unknown on the Steam page. A GTX 1060-class system requirement is a warning, not a handheld promise.
  • Mac as a confirmed day-one SKU. One older press blurb mentioned a Mac App Store line; it is not on the Gamescom launch poster this wiki uses. Do not buy a Mac mini for Aniimo on that rumour.

Cross-play

Pawprint has said Pathfinders on PC, consoles, and mobile should be able to play together. Steam already lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer and Online Co-op. Xbox store copy has listed Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and co-op. Open-world parties are up to four Pathfinders. Diamond Egg Heist in Global CBT used three-player teams in a PvEvP slice — that is a mode rule, not a contradiction of four-player co-op.

Betas did not always turn cross-play on. Paws On was PC-leaning. Paws Up mixed PC and iOS TestFlight. Global CBT added Steam playtest plus iOS/Android and still was not the full console matrix. Do not treat a July screenshot of a same-platform party as proof that your PS5 friend is already in your Steam world. Verify the invite flow on 16 September.

Cross-save / cross-progress

The intended live design is one Aniimo account whose Aniilog, story, Homeland, and cosmetics follow you across devices. Official FAQ language has said that once the game is released, you can play on PC, Xbox, and mobile with progress synchronised. Console pre-order Q&A later added important fine print:

  • You link one PSN or Microsoft account to an Aniimo email at first launch. That link is sticky.
  • Servers are region-shaped. PlayStation in particular assigns a server from the PSN region’s registration. Aniimo has not advertised cross-server character sharing.
  • Pack items bought on a console generally need to be claimed on that console first.

Cross-progress is intended, not something to gamble a $20 pack on without reading the in-client prompt. If you already have a pre-register email, use that email when the game asks. Mismatching servers is the boring way to split a collection in two.

Controllers, keyboards, and touch

PC closed tests ran on keyboard and mouse and accepted a gamepad. Default PC binds from the beta (WASD, right-click catch mode, C to Twine, 1–4 to swap) are documented on controls. Consoles will be gamepad-native. Mobile is touch, with whatever cloud-or-controller extras Pawprint enables later — those extras were not the Global CBT headline.

You do not need a DualSense to play on Steam. You do need to decide one input for muscle memory before an Alpha fight. Mixing touch and a Bluetooth pad on a phone is a launch-week experiment, not a requirement.

Co-op expectations

Online co-op is part of the pitch, not a post-game toggle. Previews showed social tools (Horn / Flute-style calls) so a Pathfinder can ask for help in the open world. That only works if cross-play is actually up and your friend is on a launch platform. A Switch owner cannot be invited. A mobile player cannot join you until 23 September unless they also own a PC or console client.

Always-online is the working assumption. Steam lists a broadband requirement. Plan for that on handheld PCs and on hotel Wi-Fi.

How to pick a store without overthinking it

  • Steam if you already live in that library and want the PC spec sheet in one place.
  • Epic if that is where your friends already sit; it is a first-class PC store, not a port.
  • PS5 or Xbox if you want a pad-first living-room install and optional packs. Xbox Play Anywhere language from 2025 is extra reason to prefer the Xbox PC + console pair if that still appears on the store tile at login.
  • Mobile a week later if your gaming time is a commute. Install size and SoC floors are on system requirements.

Then read the updates hub so you are not mixing a beta platform list with the live one. Platforms changed between Xbox Showcase 2025 (Xbox / PC / mobile) and the March 2026 add of PS5 and Epic. The list can still grow after launch. Until it does, do not tell a friend Aniimo is on Switch.

Pick the store you will open at 10:00 UTC+8 on the 16th, link the email you already used on aniimo.com, and leave a note on the fridge: mobile is the 23rd. That single week is the only staggered launch on the poster. Everything else is the same free client on different glass.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Pathfinders search for before launch.

Is Aniimo on Nintendo Switch?

No. The announced launch list is Steam, Epic, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android. Switch is not on it.

Does Aniimo have cross-play?

Yes, cross-play across PC, consoles, and mobile has been announced. Betas did not always enable it. Confirm party invites on 16 September 2026.

Will my progress sync from PC to phone?

That is the intended live design (cross-progress), with region/server caveats on consoles. Link the same Aniimo email. Mobile itself launches 23 September 2026.

Can I use a controller on PC?

Yes. Closed tests accepted a gamepad alongside keyboard and mouse. See controls for the PC layout testers used.

Is the Xbox version Play Anywhere?

Older Xbox Wire copy listed Aniimo as an Xbox Play Anywhere title for Xbox Series and Xbox on PC. Check the live Xbox store tile at launch; this wiki will not invent a feature the tile removed.
