Aniimo Exploration Tier List

Rank the body you inhabit on Idyll — fly, swim, detect, burn, and burrow — not the Alpha DPS column.

Exploration Twine Tiers

A creature can be average in an Alpha and still be the reason you finish a ridge. This list ranks Twine kits for moving through Idyll: flight, swimming, detection, fire interactions, and rock burrows. It is a closed-beta snapshot. The Global CBT index sat around 94 names; launch still advertises 200+ when PC and consoles open on 16 September 2026 (mobile on the 23rd). If a line was rare in tests, we mark it as provisional instead of inventing an S.

Twine is the whole pitch — you inhabit the Aniimo, you do not only throw it. Bind was C on PC in the beta; there was no duration cap in tests, so you can stay in a body across a biome. Swapping 1–4 changes your entire movement set. That is why this page exists beside the combat ranks. Learn the verb on how to Twine, then come back here to pick the body. First-hour order lives in Getting Started. Names and roles live on the creature index. Combat letters live on the tier list hub.

How exploration letters work

  • S — testers kept this kit on a hotbar because a region literally asked for it.
  • A — strong in its biome, easy to recommend, sometimes swapped for combat.
  • B — usable, slower, or overlapping a kit you already have.
  • C — combat pets you are dragging across a lake out of stubbornness.

A Somniwing that cannot Break an Alpha can still be exploration S. A Scorchhowl that melts a Grass elite can still be exploration C if you asked it to swim. Do not merge the charts.

S: fly, swim, detect

Somniwing (Wind, fly). The clip machine. Aerial Twine is how Pathfinders skip cliffs, scout Alpha patrols, and reach nests that look decorative until you are in the air. Somniwing is a poor PvE trophy and a premier traversal tool. In dumps it is also one of the lines that does not evolve the way Emberpup does — you are ranking the body you have, not a future Nova. Wind still loses to Wind and Earth in a fight; that is a combat problem, not a glide problem. Keep a real Breaker for when you land.

Water line swimming (Skippy → Pranky → Glacy, plus other Water bodies). Idyll is not a sidewalk with ponds. Rivers, bays, and the Island of Peace-style water content from CBT ask you to be a swimmer, not to doggy-paddle as a Fire pup. Skippy is the Lumin most people meet first; Glacy is the Heal you wanted anyway. If you refuse to catch a Water body, you will walk around content that was designed as a swim. That is a self-inflicted C, not a map bug.

Eko (Wind, detect). Community pressure added a sound-detect kit because the open world hides more than HP bars. Eko is S for finding: Sparkling tells, buried interactables, ambush audio, the stuff Snap photography also cares about. It is not S for killing Alphas. Put Eko in the flex slot when you are hunting, then swap to Tuckin when a bar needs breaking. Detection is a Twine job. Walking past a singing rock as Helion because you never caught Eko is how people say the world is empty.

A: fire interactions and burrow rock lines

Fire interactions (Emberpup → Flameruff → Scorchhowl, Inferlupa). Courses in the beta taught elemental nodes, not only damage. Fire Twine lights braziers, melts obvious ice plugs, and solves the puzzles that look like combat until you inhabit the pup. Scorchhowl is still a PvE DPS teacher; on this list it is A because the world uses Fire as a key. Inferlupa’s Fire/Dark mix is a combat Breaker that can still touch Fire nodes. Water and Earth remain the combat tax — do not Twine Fire into a flood and then log a bug.

Burrow and rock lines (Pebbling and the Earth walls: Budclaw, Shrubclaw, Cubbo, Grizbo). Earth Twine is how caves stop being dead ends. Burrow kits, heavy bodies, and rock-break interactions showed up whenever testers talked about underground routes. Pebbling is the famous branch (Lavazar / Geodeback toward Magmarex / Minespine in dumps); pick the fork for the biome you actually live in, and keep a Lumin extra before you commit. Earth crushes Ice and Lightning in a fight and then gets farmed by Water and Wind. Exploration A, combat situational.

Nimbi → Turbo (Wind Support) as a ground sprint / swap kit when you do not need full flight. Not as pretty as Somniwing. Often faster for road travel because you are not fighting camera pitch.

B: story bodies and almost-kits

Helion is a melee Light lion. Great for feeling like a Pathfinder. Average at crossing water. Lunara is a ranged Light fox with more mid-range comfort and still no swim. Both teach Twine in the story; neither replaces Somniwing, Eko, or a Water body. Rank them B for exploration and stop restarting the opening because the lion cannot fly.

Hummin → Tuckin and Leafy are Grass kits that brush through overgrowth and then want a Heal/Break job in combat. Fine as a second field body. Not a flight replacement. Celestis → Stellarys and Helmut → Pawney → Rookey are Dark mages. They traverse like people in robes. Bring them for the fight you hiked to, not for the hike.

Sparkling forms do not get a letter. They get a photograph. Hunt them with Eko and better Aniipods, then go back to the kit that actually climbs.

C: combat trophies on the wrong exam

Four Fire DPS and a dream. A Dark mage in a lake. A Breaker you refuse to swap off because its PvE letter is S. These are C on this page even if they are saints against Alphas. Exploration ranks the inhabited movement, full stop.

If you only have the tutorial Emberpup, that is expected on hour one. It is not a finished traversal party. Follow Getting Started until you have Water, a detect or fly, and some Earth, then return here to trim the hotbar.

A practical field bar

Testers who actually finished maps kept something close to:

  1. Fly — Somniwing (or the best aerial you have).
  2. Swim — Skippy’s line, upgraded toward Glacy so the same slot is also your Heal.
  3. Detect or burrow — Eko for hunts, Pebbling/Earth for caves.
  4. Combat spine — Breaker or DPS you swap onto when an Alpha stands up.

That is four slots, which is all you get. The creature index tells you what you caught. This page tells you whether it belongs on the ridge. When a puzzle is a Fire node, swap to Scorchhowl for ten seconds and swap back. Do not rebuild your identity around the node.

Online co-op (up to four Pathfinders) lets a friend be the flyer while you stay the Heal. It does not teleport you across a bay if nobody in the squad caught Water. Share kits. Do not all lock Fire because the meadow was on fire.

What launch will add

New biomes mean new keys: more swim, more glide, maybe kits CBT never named. Weather forms can change which body you want at night versus noon. We will retier this page on traversal sentences, not on DPS patches. A flyer nerf in combat should not demote Somniwing here unless the wings actually stop working.

Pack Somniwing for the sky, a Water body for the current, Eko for the noise you cannot see, Fire for the node that wants a match, and a rock line for the tunnel that is not a hallway. Then open how to Twine and practise swapping before the ridge, not on it. Idyll is large enough to punish a party that only knows how to punch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Pathfinders search for before launch.

Why is Somniwing S here but not on the PvE list?

Because this page ranks inhabited movement. Flight clears ridges; it does not replace a Breaker. Keep Somniwing for travel and swap to Tuckin or Inferlupa when a bar needs breaking.

Do I need a Water Aniimo if I dislike swimming?

Yes if you want the water content. Skippy's line is the usual teacher and later Heal. Walking around bays is optional stubbornness, not a hidden land route.

What does Eko actually detect?

A sound-detect Wind kit added after community requests. Testers used it for hidden interactables, hunt tells, and the kind of Sparkling search that eyesight misses. It is not a combat carry.

Is burrowing only Pebbling?

Pebbling is the named branch poster, but Earth walls such as Budclaw and Grizbo also exist for cave weight. Rank the kit you inhabit. Read the creature index for the line you actually caught.

Should my exploration team match my Alpha team?

Overlap is healthy (Glacy can swim and Heal). Identity is not. Keep a flyer and a detector even if they are average in Getting Started story fights.
